GRAVEL'S DARK HORSE

The Chamois Hagar is more than just a gravel bike; it's a category-defying machine that laughs in the face of convention. With mountain bike DNA and drop-bar efficiency, it's built for those who see boundaries as mere suggestions.

Now featuring SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), the Hagar is primed for the latest T-Type transmissions, ensuring seamless compatibility and future proofing your ride.

Whether you're tackling gravel roads, cyclocross courses, urban commutes, or bikepacking adventures, the Hagar adapts with unwavering prowess.

Pick your poison

The Chamois Hagar is available in traditional drop-bar, and hybrid flat-bar configurations to better suit your style. Drop-bars are ideal for gravel purists and those spending long days in the saddle. Flat-bars are perfect for those more familiar with mountain bikes, or anyone wanting to cause a little chaos along their commute.

Where can I find the owners manual for my Chamois Hagar? You can find your owners manual here. Please refer to the owners manual prior to your first ride.

Why the 50mm stem? The Chamois Hagar takes geometry queues from our mountain bike heritage. As it has been proven with mountain bikes, a shorter stem and longer top tube put you in a pedaling position that maximizes strength and stability over the bike. The Chamois Hagar was designed around a 45-50 mm stem. For those that prefer a longer cockpit, up to 80mm is within reason.

Which bottom bracket standard does the Chamois Hagar utilize? The Chamois Hagar utilizes a threaded BSA 68mm bottom bracket. We recommend pairing the brand of your bottom bracket & crankset to ensure seamless compatibility.

What is the Chamois Hagar’s axle spacing? 12x142mm rear & 12x100 front.

What is the Chamois Hagar’s seatpost diameter? 30.9mm

What is the Chamois Hagar’s seatpost clamp diameter? 34.9mm

What type of headset does the Chamois Hagar require? The Chamois Hagar requires an integrated headset w/ a 36° x 45° - 41mm upper bearing and a 36° x 45° - 52mm lower bearing. Note that the fork has an integrated 36° crown race.

Does the Chamois Hagar support a front derailleur? The Chamois Hagar is compatible with braze-on front derailleurs. Every Chamois Hagar includes an optional braze-on front derailleur mount. This mount can easily be removed for a clean 1x setup.

What type of derailleur hanger does the Chamois Hagar employ? SRAM “UDH”, or Universal Derailleur Hanger. These should be readily available at just about any local bike shop.

What's the largest rear tire I can run on the Chamois Hagar? The Chamois Hagar can accommodate a maximum 700x50c rear tire

  • 700x50c maximum with a single front chain ring.

  • 700x40c maximum with a front derailleur.

  • 700x40c maximum with fenders installed. Contact info@evil-bikes.com for a good hack to run 700x50c with fenders.

Can I run road plus? The Chamois Hagar was designed specifically around 700c wheels & tires. We do not recommend using the 650c wheels & tires, as it will negatively impact the bottom bracket height. We feel that a 700c wheel and tire combo is better suited for the variety of terrains you will encounter on the Chamois Hagar.

Does the Chamois Hagar support fenders?Yes, the Chamois Hagar includes stealth fender mounts. With fenders, the maximum size tire we recommend running is a 700x40c, although larger fenders & tires can be accommodated with a mild modification to the rear fender. The Chamois Hagar includes inserts on the rear of the seat tube, & beneath the fork crown to “direct mount” your fenders to the frame. These direct mounts require a hole drilled in the fender, although the result is a much cleaner look.

What's the smallest chainring I can run on the Chamois Hagar? The Chamois Hagar accepts a minimum 36t chainring with a 1x drivetrain.

How many bottle cages? The Chamois Hagar includes 7 bottle cage mounts unless you ride a small, then it’s 6 (sorry). One beneath the downtube, one on the seat tube, two atop the downtube (small only has one), one atop the top tube, one on each fork leg.

Is that a custom fork?Of course it is - the Chamois Hagar features a custom fork with 56mm offset and 423 mm axle to crown. This fork is compatible with all current road and gravel components. It features a flat mount brake and 100x12mm axle and spacing.

Does the Chamois Hagar support a suspension fork? The Chamois Hagar is designed to function optimally with the Evil fork that is included with a bike or frameset purchase. Suspension forks may be employed, although we suggest visually inspecting upper & lower crown clearance with the downtube & headtube before riding.

How do I route the internal cables? The Chamois Hagar features full internal routing. Begin with the fork & downtube door removed. Run the brake hose and shift housing from the rear to the front. With the downtube door removed, guide the cables up the downtube. With the fork removed, reach into the head tube and guide the housings out of the cable ports.

How do I install the dropper post? All Chamois Hagar completes are spec’d with a Rockshox Reverb AXS dropper, which requires no cable routing. If you prefer to run a mechanically actuated dropper, begin by running the housing into an unused port on the side of the headtube. Then, remove the downtube door and guide the cables up the seat tube.

Are there cable plugs for unused routing?Yes, each Chamois Hagar includes spare cable plugs to keep your bike looking as clean as possible for every build imaginable.

What flat-mount brake adapters do I need?Flat-mount is the standard option for road and gravel disc brakes. The flat-mount allows the calipers to sit flush on the chain stay & fork leg. Both the front and the rear require a specific adapters

  • Rear: Flat-mount 140mm to 160mm rear adapter for 20mm thick frames.

  • Front: Flat-mount 140mm to 160mm front adapter with normal bolts.
