Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Filip Wins Santismo DH

With 3 minutes and 21 seconds in the route of five kilometers, Slovak Filip Polc won the second edition of the “Santísimo Downhill”, mountain biking event which took place in the province of Urubamba in Cusco, Peru.

With a great crowd and perfect weather, the luxury guest of this classic competition showed all his class, but Peruvians riders complicated the journey.

"The level has been pretty strong. In qualifying I was not very well. I finished fourth, I was not expecting to have lost so many seconds. The local riders are very good and force you to always go faster”, said Polc moments before the awards ceremony.

The second position was occupied by the young Santiago Ortiz de Zevallos from Arequipa. The current Peruvian National Champion finished four seconds after Polc. Alejandro Paz from Lima completed the podium with 3 minutes and 29 seconds.

"Everything was perfect. The forecast predicted rain but we had sunny days. The route has been well designed, fun and it was a successful event”, concluded the Slovak champion.
